Thoughts on Aging Gracefully

If we hang around long enough, we all end up facing the issue of aging. How we deal with it is up to us.
You're going to get older chronologically. As long as you agree to count each trip around the Sun as one year, the numbers are going to keep on ticking by. You can let the numbers dictate how you live, or you can go your own way and live life by your own rules. Even with that said though, there are a few things you can do to keep yourself feeling good.
One important idea is to eat right. Don't put garbage in your system. I'm not big on explaining the obvious, so just think about it. If you put garbage into your system, what you will get out is garbage. Do you know anyone who complains constantly about feeling run down? Do they eat a Snickers bar while they are complaining? I'm not judging. Believe me, I actually struggle to follow this rule, but it does make sense.
Another big idea that I know I should be paying more attention to is exercising more. Unfortunately, sometimes when people start feeling little aches and pains associated with aging, their first reaction is to shut down all physical activity. Of course you should do whatever your doctor tells you to do, but I personally have found that pushing through my wall of laziness can bring big rewards later when I get a couple of hours worth of increased energy.
Do something that you like. Don't spend every day miserable. If you hate what you are doing, stop. I'm not suggesting that you should walk in and quit your job, but do SOMETHING different and then see where it leads you. Try turning off the TV. Yes, I know, that is your relaxation time. How is that really working out for you? Is there something else you could try to get you relaxed that might actually get you moving out of your rut?
I hope this post wasn't insulting to anyone. I have taken to writing down some ideas that I think apply to me and maybe some other folks who might stop by my site. I don't want to act like I'm ninety when I reach the age of fifty.
